LFD Chief on Lakewood Fires: No Reason To Believe Fires Were Intentionally Set; Cause For Some Determined

The Ocean County Prosecutor and Fire Marshals Offices are investigating five separate structural fires the occurred within the last week in Lakewood, some of which a cause has already been determined.

Chief Jon Yahr told TLS, “While Multiple Alarm fires like these is not common, it’s certainly not unprecedented, each of these fire is, or will be investigated for cause and origin. At this time, there is no reason for us to believe that any of these fire were intentionally set.”

  • This past Monday, firefighters responded to a home on Birch Street and extinguished a Lithium-Ion E-Bike fire that originated outside of the house and spread into the home.
  • On Thursday, firefighters responded to a Fire on Picardy Court, and had to evacuate the building after parts of the roof began to collapse. No cause has been released at this time.
  • Early Friday Morning, firefighters responded to a Fire in an Apartment Building on Cedarbridge Ave. The fire went to a 2nd Alarm as the fire spread beyond the original apartment. No cause has been released at this time.
  • On Friday Afternoon, firefighters responded to a home on Finchley Blvd for reports of a house fire. Most of the fire was extinguished by neighbors prior to the Fire Departments arrival. Neighbors reported to TLS that a Gas Generator caught fire and spread to the home.
  • On Shabbos Morning, firefighters responded to a home on Joe Parker Road for reports of a fire with people trapped. Police officers and civilians were able to rescue one person before firefighters arrived. The fire eventually went to a 3rd Alarm as searches continued for additional reports of missing people. One firefighter suffered a medical emergency and was hospitalized but has since been released. A Police Officer suffered smoke inhalation while rescuing the one victim – he has since been released from the hospital. The victim who was rescued remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition. The cause of the fire was ruled accidental by the OCPO due to discarded smoking material.

  1. You didn’t mention the forest fire on Friday in the old tent city. They had a plane fly over twice dropping water to put it out. (I was there)

  2. At least one lesson is that wasn’t teenagers (apparently) – but it could have been the Covid vaccine!;) (Just had to say that!)
Maybe this was a similar case of one of the more than 800 athletes who had a heart attack on the field – on camera – after getting the shot, and many pilots too, had seizures and crashed. (So maybe he dropped his cigarette because of a heart attack.) You won’t hear about car crashes, as that’s more vague, and you won’t hear about commercial planes, as they always have two pilots.) Many who got the shots got minor blood clots in the heart from it, (a D-dimer test will show), and when doing strenuous activity, had heart attacks.
if someone tells you he got the shot and is fine, tell him ‘I don’t believe you until you get a D-dimer!

    • …and you have scientific data to back up your rhetoric.
How does one fold covid into the dialogue, when the topic is structural fires…beyond a stretch.
