A fire that started from an e-bike left a Lakewood home severely damaged, officials tell TLS.
The fire started around 5:30 AM Monday morning on Birch Street from an e-bike outside the home. The fire spread to the home, severely damaging it.
The occupants managed to escape without injury.
Among the damaged items, were clothing for an upcoming Chasunah.
Firefighters were on scene until approximately 11:00 AM.
I hope that everyone is safe. A little research of these scooters shows that they need to be stored properly when not in use. This is due to the battery. Never overcharge them. Battery levels should be left at 40-50% and disconnected when not in use. Never leave a scooter charging for long periods of time. Keep them stored properly in a cool dry place. Do not leave them outside in the sun or heat. They are not toys. They are machines. Treat them like you would a motor vehicle. Stay safe fellow Lakewood residents.
Thank you bubba for the helpful advice.
