UPDATE: Two Women Charged In Friday’s Crash Outside NPGS That Killed Hayeled Yitzchok Rosenberg A”H

Federal immigration authorities have also lodged immigration detainers against both women

Two women have been charged in connection with Friday’s crash outside NPGS that killed nine-month-old Hayeled Yitzchok Rosenberg A”H.

Maria CobonGuzman, 20, of Trenton, was charged with manslaughter, operating a motor vehicle without ever having possessed or been issued a valid driver’s license while involved in a fatal motor vehicle crash, and two counts of assault by auto.

Ariadna Lazaro-Flores, 22, of Toms River, was charged with knowingly engaging in conduct creating a substantial risk of death to another.

Federal immigration authorities have also lodged immigration detainers against both women.

Police responding to the scene found that a mother and her two minor children, a five-year-old girl and nine-month-old boy, had been struck by a vehicle.

All three victims were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. The mother and her five-year-old daughter remain hospitalized in stable condition. The nine-month-old boy, Hayeled Yitzchok Rosenberg A”H, was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

According to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, an investigation determined that CobonGuzman was driving a Ford Fusion through the parking lot when she struck the mother and the baby carriage carrying both children.

Investigators determined that CobonGuzman did not possess, and had never possessed, a valid driver’s license in New Jersey or any other state.

Investigators also determined that Lazaro-Flores was aware that CobonGuzman did not have a driver’s license but nevertheless permitted her to operate the vehicle.

Both women were taken into custody and transported to the Ocean County Jail, where they remain pending detention hearings.

The investigation remains ongoing.

what’s the difference, they were arrested. It’s terrible; it has nothing to do with immigration; human beings should not be able to act like that.

It has everything to do with immigration. Legal citizens obtain a permit & get a road test before being issued a license. Illegal aliens are routinely caught driving without a legal license. NJ allows licenses for undocumented aliens so this is strange.
Regardless, This was a potch fun himmel to all of us, decided on last Rosh Hashana.

1,000 thumbs up. As I said in another comment, human beings should not be able to act like that. A licensed driver knows not to let an unlicensed driver drive. There is so much to know about to drive; including not mistakenly hitting the gas when you meant to hit the brake. But if you don’t have experience, you can make that mistake. I assume that’s what happened here. Worst case scenario, go in an empty parking lot a night, the worst thing that can happen is that cops will see something erratic, and driver will be ticketed. But to be in a place where they can potentially kill someone (besides themselves) is absolutely insane and very unfair.

You all heaved a collective sigh of relief when you found out that the driver wasn’t unzere. But for all those out there saying “Yadeinu lo shafchu es hadam hazeh”, let this horrendous story jolt us all to drive extra cautiously and courteously at all times. And that means not cutting corners, not passing on the right, driving at a speed that matches road conditions, giving pedestrians priority even if technically they shouldn’t have it and staying off the phone while driving!!

I just have to chime in:
And peds. wearing reflectors at night, and bikes and scooters etc. are REQUIRED BY STATE LAW to have lights front and back (and is a good idea to wear refltector too, in case fall off or if batt. goes out etc.)

I’m assuming that’s obvious when it says immigration detainers were lodged against them which I assume means they can’t – or it make it harder – for them to become citizens.
