UPDATE: Lakewood Fire Department to Make Fire Prevention Expo an Annual Summer Event

Following the overwhelming success of its inaugural Fire Prevention Expo, the Lakewood Fire Department announced it plans to make the event an annual summer tradition.

The Department said approximately 3,500 residents, campers, families, and visitors attended the first-ever Fire Prevention Expo, held last Monday, for an afternoon of fire safety education, live demonstrations, and interactive exhibits.

The event featured live demonstrations, interactive exhibits, and participation from numerous public safety agencies, giving attendees hands-on fire safety and emergency preparedness education.

Based on the strong community response, fire officials said the Fire Prevention Expo will become the Department’s annual fire prevention event, replacing the traditional October Fire Prevention Week event, which frequently coincided with the Yom Tov season and made it more difficult for many local families, schools, and camps to participate.

The Department thanked the thousands of residents who attended, as well as the many participating agencies, volunteers, and sponsors whose support helped make the inaugural event a success.
