Reb Yisroel Dov was born in Berlin in 1935 to his parents Reb Mordechai and Chaya Birnhack. Originally from Galicia, the Birnhacks were Stuchiner chasidim. In 1939 the family escaped to England where they remained throughout the milchama.

Subsequently they emigrated to NY where Reb Yisroel attended Torah Voda’as and later Beis Midrash Elyon where he received Smicha.

He married his eishes chayil Francoise Munk, daughter of Rav Eliyohu Munk, Rov in Paris and together were zoche to raise 9 children.

Reb Yisroel was an accountant by trade and was known for his honesty, Dikduk HaMitzvos, unwavering Emunah and exemplary Middos Tovos.

The Levaya took place on Chol HaMoed with the Kevurah at Har HaZeisim.

He is being mourned by his wife; brothers Reb Ephraim and Reb Avrohom, sisters Mrs. Chana Katz and Mrs. Malki Rabinowitz, and children: Mrs. Channie Cohen, Reb Shmuel, Reb Pinchos, Reb Yehoshua, Reb Avrohom, Reb Yaakov, Reb Chaim Dovid, Reb Yitzchok, Mrs. Frummi Miller.

Shivah will be taking place through Friday afternoon at 18 Esti Circle.
