The Lakewood Police Department today began using an online payment system for residents applying for gun permits.
Until now, when applying for either purchase permits or CCW permits, the applicant needed to go down to the Lakewood Police headquarters to pay in person, something that many residents found inconvenient.
Today, the system was launched and tested.
”We are constantly looking to improve the system,” Police Chief Greg Meyer told TLS. “This new system will streamline the process and enable both applicants and the Detective Bureau to expedite the permit process.”
After applying for permits online, applicants will receive an email from the LPD notifying them of the fee, which needs to be paid for the Bureau to begin their background checks. Applicants will then receive an email from the Department once their checks are completed.
As earlier reported, in the nearly two years since the decision known as Bruen, Lakewood received 316 carry permit applications. Jackson had 381, and Toms River had 742. Hundreds more applied for purchase permits.
In the months following the October 7th attack in Israel, the Lakewood Police Department has seen an extreme surge in gun permit and CCW applications, including over 700 applications in one month alone – a record for the LPD.

Ransomware Attackers Announce They Are Now Accepting Credit Card Payments
The ‘International Association Of Ransomware Hackers [IAORH]’ announced Friday that ransomware attackers are now accepting credit card payments, in addition to the cryptocurrency payments that they’ve accepted till now.
“We’re constantly seeking ways to make it easier on ransomware victims to pay up their ransoms,” said Boris Ransacker, a leading ransomware attacker who serves as Vice President of the International Association of Ransomware Hackers [IAORH].
Until now, victims of ransomware had to pay up their respective ransoms via cash, cryptocurrency or personal checks.
“The new credit card payment system streamlines the ransomware payment process,” Mr. Ransacker said, “and enables both the hackers and the victims to expedite the extortion/payment process.”
Pete Payler, CEO of one of the world’s leading investment companies, who’s paid out dozens of ransomware payments over the last few years, told reporters on Saturday that he is “extremely satisfied with the new credit card payment process.”
“Ransomware hackers were constantly complaining to me about how long it took for them to cash my checks,” he said, “but just this morning I started paying out all of my ransoms via credit card, and so far, I’ve received absolutely no complaints from the hackers. And that makes me very happy, because if the hackers are satisfied, I’m certain they’ll continue to do business with me and to send me an endless supply of ransomware.”
PUNYLOVESBLUE, relax mate. There is an extensive background check that is done. Twice. Once for the permit and once when you buy the gun.
In addition, a check is done on the previous mental health history of the applicants.
Oh, the applicant also needs to supply references, who attest to the character and history of the applicant.
In summary, contrary to what may be shown on the news, legal gun owners are some of the safest people around.
They have had a full background and mental health check done. Have you?
