Brick Police Announce School Zone Enforcement In Response to Recent Tragedy

In response to a recent tragic incident and in an effort to reinforce the importance of roadway safety, the Brick Township Police Department is reminding all drivers to slow down and stay alert when traveling through school zones in Brick Township, New Jersey.

School zones are active, high-risk areas where children, parents, and crossing guards are present—often during busy morning arrival and afternoon dismissal times. Even a moment of distraction or driving above the posted speed limit can have devastating consequences.

Over the coming days and weeks, officers will be actively saturating school zones throughout the township. Increased enforcement will include strict attention to speed violations, distracted driving, and any behavior that puts pedestrians at risk. Tickets will be issued to drivers who fail to obey posted school zone regulations.

This is not just about enforcement—it is about prevention. Every driver has a responsibility to ensure that students get to and from school safely.

Police ask all motorists to:

  •  Slow down and obey posted school zone speed limits
  •  Eliminate distractions while driving
  • Be prepared to stop for crossing guards and pedestrians
  • Allow extra travel time during school hours

One careless decision behind the wheel can change lives forever. Please drive like children’s lives depend on it—because they do.

Thank you for the reminder. Everyone, adults and teenagers alike, must be more vigilant. This was a terrible tragedy and our hearts go out to the entire student body, the families of both students, and all of the victim’s loved ones. RIP, may your family be comforted.
