BREAKING: Judge Blocks More Provisions Of New Jersey’s Concealed Carry Restriction Bill

A federal judge has issued a new order temporarily blocking more parts of New Jersey newly enacted concealed carry law, temporarily blocking the blanket prohibition of carrying guns in public parks, beaches, recreational facilities, and casinos.

However, in the 46-page decision issued by U.S. District Court Judge Marie Bumb, the law’s ban on guns at zoos, medical facilities, airports, and movie sets also remain in place.

Judge Bumb, a Bush appointee, said the plaintiffs lack the standing to challenge those provisions.

“Plaintiffs have made a strong showing of constitutional injury given their Second Amendment rights as secured by the Fourteenth Amendment,” Bumb wrote.

“Plaintiffs do not allege a bare constitutional deprivation, but that they fear the threat of severe criminal penalties if they choose to exercise their Second Amendment rights.”

According to the lawsuit, the law improperly expands the list of “sensitive places” where concealed weapons are banned and wrongfully criminalizes carrying a handgun in a vehicle.

While superficially removing the requirement of “justifiable need,” the legislature has declared most of the State to be off limits to carry through the artifice of “sensitive places,” as well as by means of a broad ban on carrying functional guns in vehicles. the group said in the complaint.

Today’s ruling follows a similar ruling from earlier this month which blocked several other parts of the law for similar reasons.

Asked by TLS in November whether he thought the bill would stand up in court, New Jersey Governor Murphy said he was confident the then-revised bill would stand up to any potential legal challenges.

“I hope so. I normally wouldn’t talk about bills that are not on our desk, but this one is important to all of us,” he said at the time.

“We are very concerned about the Supreme Court’s steps initially, and then also in staying New York’s laws,” Murphy continued.

The law includes a provision that if any part of it is overturned, the rest will remain.

Some parts of the law went into effect when it was signed, the rest will become law in about five months.

  1. “Okay, so the concealed carry ban is still in effect in zoos, medical facilities and airports, but not in public parks, beaches and casinos?” the mass murdering gunman asked reporters on Monday. “That definitely changes my plans a little bit. I was planning on hanging out in the public parks and casinos this week, providing no one else but me would be carrying a gun there. I’m definitely scratching THOSE plans off my list.”
“Hmm,” he said resignedly, “Judge Bumb’s ruling is a real bummer for me! I’m not a zoo-lover, and I hate airports, however, mass killers can’t be choosers; so, to the zoo and airport I shall go!”
The mass murderer added: “My biggest concern is, what happens if I accidentally shoot a zoo animal instead of a human?! PETA will hunt me down and string me by my neck!”
“I don’t get it”, he added, “why is life so unfair to me?!”

  2. After the horrific terror attack in Neve Yaakov on Shabbos, the new conservative government is finally acting sanely by moving to expedite the issuance of gun licenses to a multitude of Israeli civilians. In this new environment, it is hoped that every would-be terrorist is riddled with bullets before he can get off a second shot.

Insanely, Gov. Murphy and the left-wing Democrat NJ legislature have gone in the opposite direction, with their pathetic efforts to nullify the 2nd amendment and render our communities defenseless against ever emboldened criminals, and more fearfully for Yidden, anti-semites. We depend upon the courts and constitutionalist judges to step up and cripple these haters of law-abiding gun owners, and put an end to their authoritarian attempts to destroy our right to self- defense.
