5th Person Turns Himself In On Hindering Charge In Toms River Murder Investigation

A fifth person charged with hindering authorities in connection with the search for a Toms River man wanted on murder charges has turned himself in to law enforcement, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office announced.

Ronald Hagan, 50, of Brick Township, surrendered Monday morning to the Toms River Township Police Department in the presence of his attorney, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.

Hagan was charged with Hindering the Apprehension of Another in connection with the ongoing search for Douglas Cobb, 51, of Toms River.

As earlier reported on TLS, Cobb was charged with the September 18 murder of 42-year-old Bruce Gress of Toms River. Cobb remains at large as authorities continue searching for him.

Four other individuals have also been arrested and charged with hindering authorities in connection with the investigation into Cobb’s whereabouts.

Hagan was charged on September 24, at which time a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Following his surrender, Hagan was transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he remains lodged pending a detention hearing.
