UPDATE 6:35 PM: The NJSP issued the following statement to TLS:
Troopers responded to a motor vehicle crash at 12:28 p.m. on the Garden State Parkway south on the exit 89B exit ramp in Lakewood Township, Ocean County.
Based on preliminary investigation, Thomas D. Spencer, a 23-year-old male from Little Silver, NJ, was operating a Honda motorcycle south on the Garden State parkway. In the area of milepost 89.6, Spencer exited the parkway and while navigating exit ramp 89B to State Highway 70 west, he lost directional control of the vehicle, struck the left guardrail and was ejected from the vehicle. As a result of the crash, Spencer sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available.

A motorcyclist was seriously injured this afternoon after being ejected from his motorcycle.
The accident happened around 12:30 PM on the Garden State Parkway 89B exit Ramp in Lakewood.
The motorcyclist was ejected from his motorcycle and went over the guardrail, landing in the embankment below.
Due to the difficult location, firefighters utilized a ladder truck to reach the injured motorcyclist and lift him up from the embankment to the waiting ambulance.
The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
















It’s a good thing that the Lakewood Fire Department is well trained in rescues. Hope the motorcyclist has a quick recovery. Great job firefighters from Ladder 5 & Engine 5!
yes, and very sad, second motorcycle crash in one day. and there have been others. Should be a lesson not to ride them.
