Lesson learned!
For Purim we tried to convince my son to dress as Vashti (it is 2024 after all) as my Rebbe taught children should dress as characters in the Torah. But my son insisted on dressing as a fireman & we finally gave in. The problem started when after Purim he kept wearing the costume & pretending to be a fireman.
Fast forward to today. I lit a small fire in a metal can to burn the Chometz. I came out with the Chometz & much to my surprise my son had put out the fire with the garden hose & wrote me a $100 ticket for not having a permit to build a fire.
I tried to talk to him but he insisted rules are rules. I said, “But I’m your father. Would you write your Zaidy a ticket?”
He responded, “I already did!”
Please be careful about Purim costumes. It can cause you problems later on.
