Young man dead in apparent drug overdose in Lakewood

lpd-crime-sceneDrugs are the alleged cause of yet another death in Lakewood, police say.

At approximately 9:45 am on December 23, Officer Daniel Brooks responded to the Best Western Hotel for an unresponsive male.

Upon arrival, Officer Brooks was informed that a 30-year-old Jackson man was discovered by a family member who grew concerned when they hadn’t heard from him.

After entering the room, they found the victim on the floor. It appeared as if he had passed away a few hours prior.

“At this time the death is being investigated as a drug overdose,” Detective Lieutenant Greg Staffordsmith says. “However, the cause of death will be officially determined after an autopsy is conducted by the Ocean County Medical Examiners Office.”
