PHOTO: A woman was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle this afternoon. The accident occurred at the intersection of Route 88 and Route 9 at about 2:40 PM. The elderly woman was reportedly coming out of the Church when she was struck in the roadway.
Multiple police officers, EMS and Lakewood First Aid responded to the scene.
The woman is being flown by Medevac from Prospect Street to Jersey Shore Medical Center with unspecified injuries. TLS-CCP/TLS-MK.

People need to slow down and pay attention while they are driving..you take your lives in your hands in the area ..its crazy
Very sad. I, myself, am a pedestrian. I like to cross route 9 by a traffic light. Could be the woman was too. When I cross I make sure to look both ways even when I’m crossing. You never know when a driver may run a red light. I’ve seen it happen before crossing. Please be careful out there when crossing roads. I hope this woman will be okay.

Hats off to all that were there with help. I’m sooooo proud that it doesn’t matter who, Lakewood is there to help.
Here’s hoping that the Lady as well as the Bicyclist recover completely without any complications.
Whatever the reason for these issues, hopefully people will concentrate more on their driving abilities and not so much on their texting and communication abilities.
Maybe a few cameras that are always on and enforced might help, maybe a Professional (i.e. Policeman or Traffic Safety Personnel) stationed at that corner 25/7 might help also.

#9. I wouldnt have thought it was a priest either, how is everyone supposed to know about others religions if we dont ask. You should not be offended #11 because she didnt say anything wrong she asked a simple but inquisitive question. From behind he looks like a caped crusader…and in a way I guess he is a crusader for religion. Why does everyone have to take everything so personally, get a grip!
