  1. Based upon what I just viewed this gas station violated the Federal Civil Rights Act of 1964 by denying the customer service based on his religion. That is blatant discrimination. Secondly, he told the driver to fill the gas himself which is in violation of NJ State law which prohibits self serve of gasoline. Might also be a bias crime. The driver should alert the Police and the State Attorney General and perhaps even the US Dept. of Justice to this criminal act. The driver should also find a good attorney. Gulf is a wealthy company. Speak to Rabbi Avi Schnall of Agudath Israel for guidance with this issue.

  2. most probably the gas attended was not there and the tree service worker was there they park their trucks there and was just trying to be helpful please stop accusing people of antisemitism when not justified

    • Yea, Just the “for you self service” piece doesnt quite jive with your, rather outlandish, attemt at dan Lekaf Zechus (on someone you shoudnt be)

Also, It is ILLEGAL in NJ to pump your own gas

  3. Should be reported to the state as well as all other agencies that would be responsible. You’re not allowed to pump your own gas in New Jersey. The station should be given a warning at the very least.

  4. If it is Gulf station… he can just forward it to corporate at Gulf. They will forward it to the franchise owner who will quickly investigate, fire the guy, call the motorist with an apology and probably send him a gift card. You can’t judge a business in these times with one individual incident unless it repeats after they are notified. I have found gas stations like this with very caring owners who would be horrified to learn of such behavior by an employee in their pay.

  5. Just to add to my note above… I looked it up. You can email [email protected] or call them at 800-774-4853

The guy clearly said the motorist should do self service because he is a free man. Besides the fact that you can’t pump your own gas in NJ… as an employee on duty you cannot refuse a customer service like that regardless of the reason… especially to tell him to do something illegal.

  6. How about just going to jewish owned the swifty or aisle 9 gas stations. And do a Mitzva too? And maybe there are more stations owned by Jews. Please post.

  7. I still think we should give this guy the benefit of the doubt. Even if he told the motorist that he is a “free man” and insisted the motorist do self-service, it could be the attendant was just freed from jail, and wanted to spend his first few minutes of being a “free man” in solitude pondering his freedom. Or maybe he felt that gasoline is not kosher and he mistakenly thought it would be a problem filling this Jewish man’s gas tank with gasoline. Or maybe he felt guilty filling up this gentleman’s tank with expensive premium gasoline. Or maybe he needed to use the restroom at that very moment. I could think of a million reasons why he refused to fill this person’s gas tank, and I could even write a book about it – but I’m a free man, and that’s not how I choose to spend my free time. Sorry, got to go now, my tree needs some trimming.

  8. A neighbor of mine was just refused service now at the Sunoco by Sterling Place. Time to boycott these places! They hate us more than our money.

  9. Maybe a possible solution is to flood these gas stations with cars by frum drivers needing gas & refuse to leave until these anti-semitic attendants do their job and gas up their vehicles. Patronizing Jewish owned gas stations would be the best solution, as suggested earlier. A gbentched 5782 to all of Klal Yisrael.
