VIDEO: Beginning this Sunday, women looking to jump start their weight loss efforts will battle for over $10,000 of prizes while benefitting children with autism.

For every pound you lose, friends and family pledge to sponsor you for the benefit of Imrei Binah, the premier Lakewood school for children with autism. The very biggest loser stands to win a shopping spree, thus far valued at $10,000 through the generosity of Imrei Binah supporters Reich Jewelers ($3,000 shopping spree) Rena Beane (Shevy Shaitel valued at $2,500), Brooklyn South West and Elegant Linen ($1000 shopping spree each), and Ladida ($1,500 shopping spree). The men’s program, was launched on November 11, 2012 with a grand weigh-in party. At the weigh out event, held on February 20, 2012 the 50 participants had raised a staggering $200,000 and lost a total of 2,500 lbs.

Members will be awarded Lose4Autism t-shirts, a digital scale, and free gym passes. Participants stand to win incentives as they move forward in their weight loss and fundraising efforts, with the grand prize of $10,000 awarded to the participant with the greatest percentage of weight loss. All member sponsorship proceeds will directly benefit Imrei Binah.

The Imrei Binah model is a tuition-free center based program that provides speech therapy, occupational therapy (OT) music therapy, physical therapy (PT) and applied behavioral analysis therapy (ABA) alongside an academic model focused on school readiness. The staff-student ratio is 1:1. Through a concentration of individualized curriculums that focus exclusively on autism related challenges, Imrei Binah is maximizing the potential of children with autism to facilitate the growth of meaningful communication and social integration.
