NO! This will not fix anything.
Just an interesting video to watch.
The crowding on the trains in Japan is a sight to see. People pack onto a car and uniformed personnel stand by the closing doors (stuffers), shoving the people further inside. Can’t imagine traveling like that with multiple children, strollers and groceries. We have the Lakewood Shuttle. Is that a success?
u mean because we already have some railroad tracks here in Lakewood? I personally took advantage of the L shuttle, but it seems that most people here made no use of it. Maybe with the rising car and gas costs it will become more popular. I think it would be a lot simpler for the township invest in some Duck Boats, it would just cut through the lake and avoid all the Route 9 traffic.
Imagine school buses or city buses going from County Line & Park Ave all the way to Cross St and Prospect Ave.
Now that would alleviate traffic and make bus routes shorter so the whole system can be more efficient!
Why don’t we start with a full bus line… and then see about going from there to hybrid trains! I actually thought it would be great to for 7th grade and up to get bus passes for public transportation busses. The money paid for school bus transportation would then instead support a robust city wide set of stops every block or two. Similar to NYC. Kids with passes won’t pay in the morning and afternoon times, but the education bus fees would be paid instead and adults (and kids other times) would pay a bus fare.
Lakewood needs Elon Musk’s tunnel-boring machine to unclog Route 9…
Then add vacuum tube train to Brooklyn and Tel Aviv! ????
I’m still going to drive because that is door to door, no waiting for the bus or train and I don’t have to shlep my packages to or from the bus and I go and come as I please, on my schedule. If I never had a car I would consider public transportation.
To my 3 cents: If you never have a car, I highly doubt you would choose to live in Lakewood.
