VIDEO: Reb Shimon Galei Shlita Visits Lakewood for Kevias Mezuzah at the Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce

[Press Release] In a rare appearance in the United States, HaGaon HaTzadik Rabbi Shimon Galei, shlita, one of the most sought-after Torah sages in the Jewish world, traveled to Lakewood, New Jersey, to lead a special VIP Kevias Mezuzah ceremony marking the dedication of offices used by the Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce.

Rabbi Galei is widely known across the Jewish world as a revered spiritual leader whose blessings and guidance are sought by thousands. Individuals regularly travel from across Israel and the Diaspora to seek his counsel, often waiting long periods for the opportunity to meet with him. His participation in the ceremony in Lakewood was therefore viewed by many in attendance as a rare and significant moment.

The event brought together community leaders, business figures, and representatives of major Torah institutions, along with international representatives connected to the organization’s activities from Israel, Ukraine, and across the United States, reflecting the growing global network of relationships surrounding the Chamber’s initiatives.

For the ceremony, a mezuzah parchment was written by a certified sofer (Torah scribe) in accordance with Jewish law. In a particularly meaningful moment during the dedication, Rabbi Shimon Galei personally completed the final letters of the mezuzah parchment, a traditional act symbolizing spiritual completion. He then affixed the mezuzah to the entrance of the offices while reciting the customary blessings and offering prayers that the doorway serve as a source of blessing and success for all who enter.

The mezuzah used in the ceremony was donated by the Shuvu School System, one of Israel’s largest Torah education networks, which operates more than 60 schools across Israel and provides Jewish education to thousands of students.

Speaking during the ceremony, Rabbi Galei expressed admiration for the broad scope of the work being carried out by those involved in the organization and its efforts to assist Jewish communities and institutions.

According to participants present, Rabbi Galei emphasized that the work being done often extends far beyond economic initiatives. He remarked that those involved in the organization’s leadership are “engaged every day in efforts that can amount to saving lives,” referring to the assistance provided to individuals, communities, and institutions through advocacy, community support, and relationships with government leaders and public officials.

The organization associated with the offices where the ceremony took place was originally founded in 2008 with the goal of helping members of the Jewish community strengthen economic opportunity and professional development. Over time its activities expanded significantly to include community advocacy, public policy engagement, support for Jewish institutions, and the development of relationships with government leaders and public officials.

Today its initiatives include efforts related to supporting Jewish communities, strengthening Torah education, facilitating partnerships with public institutions, and assisting individuals and organizations navigating complex challenges.

Among those attending the ceremony were leaders representing major Torah educational networks in Israel and the United States.

One of the notable participants was Rabbi Chaim Michel Guterman, associated with the Shuvu educational network, one of Israel’s largest Torah-based educational systems.

Also present was Rabbi Shlomo Chaim Kenarik, founder of one of the largest Torah educational networks in the United States, which includes institutions for boys and girls educating more than 7,000 students.

The presence of leaders of such major educational institutions from both Israel and the United States highlighted the connection between communal advocacy efforts and the broader support network for Torah education and Jewish communal life.

Following the mezuzah dedication, many attendees lined up for the rare opportunity to receive a personal blessing from Rabbi Galei. Families, community members, and guests who attended the event were able to briefly meet with the rabbi, while several invited participants were given additional time with him.

Later that evening, the Shuvu School System held its annual dinner at Bell Works in Holmdel, New Jersey, where Reb Duvi Honig was honored as the organization’s Guest of Honor, recognizing his longstanding support and efforts on behalf of Shuvu and its mission of providing Torah education to thousands of children throughout Israel.

Rabbi Shimon Galei concluded the ceremony with a heartfelt blessing, expressing hope that the mezuzah would serve as a gateway for continued bracha and success. He prayed that the doorway should bring blessing to all who enter and that the important work being carried out there would continue to benefit Jewish communities and institutions across the United States and around the world. Rabbi Galei concluded by offering a special blessing for Duvi Honig, that the work being carried out under his leadership should continue to grow and succeed in helping the Jewish community and strengthening institutions serving Klal Yisroel.

Participants at the ceremony described the gathering as both inspiring and symbolic, expressing hope that the mezuzah dedication would mark the beginning of continued growth and success for efforts aimed at supporting Jewish communities and institutions in the United States and around the world
