VIDEO: An emotional event was held in Lakewood on Sunday, which marked what would have been the Bar Mitzvah of David Sassoon Z”L, one of the family members who perished in the tragic Brooklyn fire.
The event was the result of the idea of Lakewood Cheder teacher David Benarroch, who asked his three classes if they’d like to do something special in place of David’s Bar Mitzvah.
The classes all jumped at the idea, and instantly committed to finishing the entire Mishnayus and Tehillim – all in five days.
Mrs. Sassoon, the mother of David Z”L, was so touched by the idea, that she came to Lakewood to take part in this momentous occasion.
After making the Siyumim, the children heard Divrei Bracha from the Rosh Yeshivah Reb Malkiel, and then enjoyed dancing, a Fleishig Seudah and music, accompanied by singer Yosef Chaim Bloch.
