A Lakewood family is thankful to have escaped serious injury after the chimney from a neighbor’s home being demolished came crashing through their home.
The family tells TLS they were inside their home when they heard a large crash, only to find a chimney inside their home.
The chimney crashed through an upstairs bathroom, and damaged the living room beneath it. The rooms were both severely damaged.
One resident was laying in bed in the room next door, about 10 feet away.
“I’d like to public thank Hashem, Mammish a Neis Galui,” says Mrs. H. “We have to be grateful to Hashem that all we had was some physical damage to the building.”
The chimney also knocked out power and a gas line, prompting emergency personnel to evacuate the home.
Lakewood’s Fire Department, EMS, Lakewood First Aid, the Inspection Department, NJ Natural Gas and other departments responded to the scene.
The homeowners were allowed back in a short time later, though eight guests who they were to have for Shabbos for a Simcha nearby, may need to be hosted elsewhere.

I think they should ban chimneys now that we see how terroristic they can be
#1 maybe they should ban demolishers that don’t know what they are doing!
