Three injured Israeli soldiers today visited Lakewood, where they received a plane ride and got a surprise visits from a couple Lakewood officials.
The soldiers are in America to deliver public speeches in schools and in other educational facilities about their experience in the IDF and their life stories.
Israeli native and Lakewood resident Robert Kileti, a pilot, invited the soldiers to Lakewood to be able to give them a plane ride.
Upon arriving to the Lakewood Airport for the ride, the soldiers were greeted by Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles and Deputy Mayor Menashe Miller, who sat with them and hears their stories.
After the meeting, Kileti took the soldiers onto a plane and flew them for a sightseeing trip over Manahttan.
“It was about putting a smile on their faces,” said Baruch Devorkas, an Askan who helped coordinate the event.
