Chaveirim trained about a dozen new members Thursday night on how to get stuck vehicles moving again, with a classroom session followed by hands-on work in the field.
The new members were trained by senior Chaveirim members. About 20 to 30 people took part in total.
The focus was pullouts: how to free a car stuck in mud or snow. The training also covered vehicles stuck on curbs, medians, barriers and other spots where cars tend to end up stranded.
The classroom portion included a PowerPoint presentation, with slides on what type of equipment different calls require and photos of real stuck vehicles. After that, the group headed outside, where Chaveirim Search & Rescue vehicles practiced pulling vehicles out of a muddy lot at night.
