During last night’s introduction of the Public Safety Director ordinance, both the PBA President and SOA president delivered scathing reports of the failures by the Police Department’s leadership.
After the ordinance’s first reading was passed, PBA President Jeff Hemba and SOA President Sgt. John Rodriguez got up to publicly address the failures which they said led to the Department’s support of the Public Safety Director.
As earlier reported, Chief Matt Kunz took the stand and addressed some of the points highlighted. He also called for the ordinance to be tabled. As he spoke, the approximately 60 officers in attendance walked out in an apparent protest.
Prior to passing the ordinance’s first reading, the Council members in support of the ordinance – Council President Jennifer Kuhn, Councilman Mordechai Burnstein, and Councilman VP Scott Sargent – praised the officers for their service, and stated they were there to support the men and women in blue, which is why the ordinance was introduced.

Good for them
Just from listening, sound like the union is looking for “growth”.
As a union, it is their mission.
It does not appear to be a public issue.
