VIDEO: After heavy rain left roads in Lakewood covered with knee-deep and higher waters, children took the opportunity to make the most of last few days home before school starts by riding a raft, bikes andby splashing in the water.
Chaveirim reports some areas in town saw about 18 inches of water.
Some schools were damaged by the rains as well.
Oh how this video brings back memories of when I used to do the same thing thing 30 years ago. Glad to see them having fun.
is that water kosher??
The kids looked like they were having a lot of fun, but, maybe if we stopped using all the land for houses and cutting the trees down maybe the wayer would have someplace to go instead of running into the street. Lets think about the run-off.
Which schools were damaged?
do you remember riding bikes through deep puddles!? God those were the days!!!
Didn’t see any flooding where I live. It never floods here. Maybe the township should improve the drainage in the flood prone areas.
Do they realize the sewers are backed up from the flooding that water is not meant to be played in a lot of it is probably sewage
Now that Lakewood is an asphalt and concrete land, with few green areas, the torrential rains have no where to go, so the storm drains flood, overfilled with overuse never intended for such an old system. So drivers should not be so silly to attempt to drive through high waters, just stay off the streets in these mini floods and let mother nature look for ways to drain the water,
A child in monsey was killed by entering a puddle that contained a live wire after a storm. NEVER PLAY ON A FLOODED STREET. you cant know whats under the water.
Why isn’t use storm drain upgraded to be able to handle the rain water?
OH real smart let the kids play in the flithy water. So were are the parents????.Because tomorrows Asbury Park Press reads Jewish child drowns while playing in flooded streets.I see a lot on 4 and 5 year olds in that video.SMART REAL SMART
Hey Stop NJAW!
The reason for the extra flooding is that all the new sewer covers that were installed have smaller holes in them, so the trash in the street doesn’t go down the sewer. the result is the cover gets plugged up and the water can’t go down at all…. Smart planning.
