In an urgent video message to the community, Assemblyman Avi Schnall is urging green card holders who are not U.S. citizens not to vote, warning that several members of the community were recently picked up at airports and sent to detention centers after having voted.

“There are big movements to get every single person to go and vote, and that’s all true and it’s legitimate, and every single eligible voter must vote,” Schnall said. “But please, if you are not a citizen and you are here with a green card, do not vote.”

Schnall asked that the message be shared widely with family and neighborhood chats.
