Verizon Wireless says in a statement that it will pay up to $90 million in refunds to 15 million cell phone customers who were wrongly charged for data sessions or Internet use. The statement came after the telecommunications company held talks with the FCC about complaints of unauthorized charges, according to the paper.
The company says millions of customers either will receive $2 to $6 on their October or November bills. Former customers will get refund checks.
“Verizon Wireless values our customer relationships and we always want to do the right thing for our customers,” deputy general counsel for Verizon Wireless Mary Coyne said in the statement.
This will be one of the largest-ever customer refunds from a telecommunications company. AP
