Vehicle stolen from Lakewood involved in pursuit

A vehicle stolen from a Lakewood resident was found after the alleged thief was spotted by Essex County police, and chased.

At about 12:30 AM on Monday, a Lakewood resident phoned police reporting his vehicle was stolen. A report was taken and the vehicle was entered into the system.

At appprximately 3:00 AM this morning, the resident received a call from the Lakewood Police Department stating that his vehicle was located and waa involved in a pursuit.

Police in Essex County had reportedly chased the suspect in the vehicle until he got out and fled on foot.

Authorities are investigating.

  1. People dont “hot wire” cars, it is practically impossible these days…my guess is the vehicle was left unlocked and the key or keyfob was left in the vehicle. You may not care about your car or valuables being stolen but think of the numerous other people you helped this criminal victimize or put in danger because of your carelessness or laziness. Keep your keys in a safe place and your car locked and stop being “accomplices” to future crimes.
