The USPS has announced it has suspended regular deliveries on Wednesday, after President Donald J. Trump proclaimed Wednesday a National Day of Mourning in remembrance of former President George H.W. Bush.
“Out of respect for the 41st President of the United States and to honor his vast contributions to our country during his lifetime, and consistent with the Presidential Proclamation, the United States Postal Service will suspend regular mail deliveries, retail services and administrative office activity on Dec. 5,” USPS announced.
“We will provide limited package delivery service on that day to ensure that our network remains fluid and we do not experience any impacts to our package delivery operations that might negatively affect our customers or business partners during the remainder of our busy holiday season.”

Will there be an impact to busing? Will public schools be closed?
Have they also suspended delivery for the first 40 presidents? I was depending on receiving a very important check. I’m sorry about the passing of an ex-president from 20 years ago, and I send my condolences, but I need my mail 🙁
the answer is yes it’s been done for at least the last 3 presidents to die
the best way to get your check sent would be with ups or fedex
Best is direct deposit!
Are the mail delivery persons going to sit and recite Psalms in memoriam of the deceased President? Or are they going to hit the malls and shop to boost the economy?
We as Americans are going to Fly our American Flags in Honor of President Bush even thought not too many people in Lakewood own American Flags to Fly.
Actually flags are to be flown at Half-Staff to me that seems to indicate now is not the time to fly your flag proudly as we do on July 4th etc.
Actually if you have one and do fly a flag on the 4th of July you would know flying one today is out of respect. It;s called National Day of Morning.
Does anyone have any info if the USPS will conduct scheduled pickups? I’m seeing conflicting reports..also how about collections @ the blue mail boxes?
