  1. Before anyone starts blaming parents, or blaming drivers,
I would like to say that I know about the situation personally.
The mother always watches her children. The child was in his driveway (not in the street). He happened to be behind a parked car. The driver looked on both sides and proceeded to back out (Not noticing the child). It was AN ACCIDENT. So please, instead of pointing fingers, please take out your tehillim, and daven for Dovid ben Esther.

  2. the poor kid!! Hope he recovers fast and with good results. It’s sad that this seems to be a reoccurring story. Not saying this this the situation in this story, but so many times I see children too young to be unsupervised. I hope parents start putting every day distractions to the side and start spending more time with their children and being concerned with their safety. If we don’t teach them, they will never know. Lakewood is a very busy place with many people in a rush. Children should not be alone in front yards. It takes one second for an accident to happen and as parents, we need to do everything we can to protect our children. Again, I hope for a full and speedy recovery.

  3. I don’t understand why it’s safer to back into your driveway so you can go out forward. I personally saw a child start going in front of my car when I was driving out I waited but from my driving seat and my van facing front it was impossible for me to see the child, and when you back in it is so unsafe!!!!The only solution is to check and always drive very very slowly around places where there are Baruch HaShem so many children!!!!

  4. To Esti. When you come to your pàrking spot or driveway, you could see clearly , where are you going. Then back up slowely ànd when you in à rush to run out, you don’t have to be as nurvies that someone is behind your car. Of couse you have to check your surroundings, but in general it’s much much easier. I leave in development and used to be the only one to do it. But with time ,most of our neighbors start doing the same. Also it’s worth to get bàçk up camera if possible.

  5. what a tragedy no parent should know from it, I do feel also fro the driver of the car. she will live with this umglick all her life. but mothers and fathers please please never never leave young children unattended even for a second.

  6. Yup. Lakewood life. And complex life! I have same issue with the complex i live in. Crazy situation. Hashem should watch over all the children in Lakewood!!

  7. If I see children anyhwere within view of my car, I generally ask a parent standing by or my wife if they mind standing in front and watching that no kids run up to my car. I think its the safest way and you only toruble the othe rparty for about five sec of their time.

  8. I have driven thru Lakewood many a day and have seen very young children playing so close to a busy road with no adult supervision but with the supervision of a sibling who is not much older. Huge responsibilty for a kid!! I have also seen children as young as 5-6 waiting for a school bus with no parent in sight. Scary!
