UPDATE: (VIDEO) Investigation Continues in Mariners Cove Inn Blaze which left 4 Dead and 12 Injured

mariners tlsVIDEO: The Mariners Cove Inn blaze left a total of four people dead, and 12 injured, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office spokesman Al Della Fave said. All remaining occupants have been accounted for.

The fatalities and injured count are as follows:

Fatalities: 4

Injuries: 4 transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center. 1 admitted – smoke inhalation and burns. 1 treated and released – burns. 1 treated and released – broken nose, burns. 1 transferred to Barnabas Burn Center – serious burns. 2 transported to Brick Hospital. 1 transported to Meridian Urgent Care Center, Neptune.

Injuries to first responders: 1 transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center – broken ankle.

The fire ripped through the Point Pleasant Beach motel early Friday morning, and required the assistance of dozens of firefigheters from various Ocean County towns. Emergency personnel from Lakewood were on scene as well.

As of this evening, the identities of the victims were still not released, pending family notifications, and Medical Examiner autopsies.

The Toms River Fire Department Technical Rescue Team, which is part of the New Jersey State Police Urban Search and Rescue Team, are assisting in the investigative effort. ATF along with members of the NJ State Police Arson Unit and Ocean County Arson Task Force are also assisting.

  1. It’s sad to hear of the fatal fire. Please everyone check your smoke detector batteries. This could have happened in Lakewood on any given day.

  2. Yes, I personally know of people who disconnected all their smoke detectors because they find it annoying everytime it goes off “when the toast gets burnt”. This is dangerous. Don’t be a statistic. When tragedy hits it won’t matter that “90% of the time nothing happens”. When your the 10%, those detectors can save your life!
