UPDATE: Toms River Man Killed In Garden State Parkway Crash

A Toms River man was killed in a crash on the Garden State Parkway in Tinton Falls Thursday afternoon, State Police tell TLS.

Officials identified the victim as Mark Edgell, 57, of Toms River.

According to Police, Edgell was traveling southbound in a Nissan SUV near milepost 103.1 when the vehicle struck a guardrail, ran off the roadway to the left and then struck a tree. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Edgell sustained fatal injuries in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
