UPDATE: Lakewood Structure Fire Under Investigation

Yesterday’s fire in Lakewood is under investigation, Ocean County Prosecutors announced today.

At approximately 3:15 pm on Thursday, Officers from the Lakewood Township Police Department and Lakewood Township Fire Departments were dispatched to a structure fire on Prospect Street.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel observed fires on the stairwell and on the second floor of the structure. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fires.

The fire is currently under investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Arson Squad, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Lakewood Township Police Department Detective Bureau, and Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office.

  It’s the building attached to them, nothing to do with them. Just some pyromaniacs playing around.

    Actually, the fire was in the Peek-a-Boo side of the building (although the pyromaniacs came from the other side) and it very much has what to do with them. The kids were evacuated yesterday because of the fire & again today as they were fixing/testing the fire system.
