UPDATE: 20-Year-Old Woman Killed In Garden State Parkway Crash

A 20-year-old woman was killed Friday afternoon in a serious crash on the Garden State Parkway, New Jersey State Police confirmed.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:57 p.m. on the northbound Parkway near milepost 75.8 in Lacey, Ocean County.

Troopers say a Toyota sedan traveling northbound veered off the roadway and struck the guiderail. The Toyota then re-entered the roadway and collided with a Hyundai sedan traveling in the same direction.

Two rear-seat occupants of the Toyota were ejected in the crash. One of them, identified as 20-year-old Iisiz Lopez of New York, N.Y., sustained fatal injuries.

The Toyota was being operated by 26-year-old Johan Mendez of New York, N.Y., and was occupied by four passengers. Mendez, the other passengers and an infant sustained minor injuries and were transported to an area hospital.

The driver of the Hyundai also sustained minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
