Two juveniles are in custody in Jackson connection with a stolen vehicle.
On Tuesday, at approximately 11:50 am, Police Officers Kevin Scheuerman and Michael Collins were on patrol and checking an undeveloped cul-de-sac located off of Clearstream Road when they observed a vehicle at the rear of the area.
Upon checking the vehicle, they observed two male occupants and also observed that the vehicle, a gray 2007 Ford F150 pickup with a red tailgate, matched the vehicle description of a reported suspicious incident which occurred the previous day on North Boston Road.
Police Officers Derek Gorski and Christopher Wasnesky arrived on scene to assist and the investigation confirmed that the Ford was a reported stolen vehicle out of Asbury Park, NJ and as the officers attempted to identify the two males it was discovered that they had provided false names. Both males were ultimately identified and determined to be a 15 year old resident of Jackson and a 13 year old resident of Holmdel. They were taken into custody and the vehicle was impounded.
The investigation revealed that both subjects had been reported missing out of a group home in another county. The 13 year old was charged on a juvenile complaint with hindering apprehension and receiving stolen property and was later turned over to a family member. The 15 year old was charged on a juvenile complaint with hindering apprehension and receiving stolen property and was later lodged in the Ocean County Juvenile Detention Center on an outstanding warrant for violation of probation.
