Baruch Dayan Ha’emes

Baruch Dayan HaEmes. My beloved Rebbi.
Is one of his sons a Rosh HaYeshiva?
Bde. I just purchased 2 mezuzas from him on Friday. He only gave me mezuzas that he felt I would accept.
We actually got tefflin for our sons by him. He was an ish emes. Extremly Ehrlich. He told me tbsi alst Friday how smart I was i had purchased the tefillin earlier before the bar mitzvah as the dollar has become weaker to the shekal and costs have dramatically increased.
I one time saw him ever so tactfully give his opinion on an antique megilla someone obtained and brought to him to fix. He 1st expressed in a lengthy to the owner of the megilla the attributes of the megilla and its beauty. Then he went on to analyze how it’s possible to be fixed and he could invest the time to make it mehudar and mentioned the cost to fix it. And only then which felt like 15 minutes to me said he would not suggest to invest in fixing as it would not last for various reasons which he explained in detail. He could have used the parnasa easily. But he separated himself for what was emes and best for the person.
He was so sensitive to the owner of the megilla. He could have said simply in 1 sentence not worth your money. But he didn’t.
People from far and near would travel to get their tefillin mezusas or sefrei torah. He would fix tefillin lemhudar that many trusted him. No glue.
If a source was not producing to his standards he would stop suggesting to use that source even if it was his top macher or sofer. He would insepct and it had to mert his standards. He told me he would send back if it didn’t meet his standards. His expertise was beyond comprehension. His patience and anivus was par excellence. He was a huge Talmid Chochom especially in safrus.
I had a question regarding lefty and right and it was a unique situation. Not typical. He asked unique questions and took notes down. He brought the shayla to several gedolim to obtain a psak.
Something got delayed on a project of pairs tefillin I brought to him as well as purchasing new pairs. He charged me the old price for the tefillin although the price skyrocketed during that time.
Major loss to not just Lakewood but to Klal Yisroel.
Wow, what a loss. There was no one in the world like Rabbi Berger. His gentleness, niceness, and love for another was beyond human.
I didn’t know him much just knew some of his kids but when I was in their house he always had a smile, a good word, and cared to give some random kid some love.
He will be so badly missed.
We need more people in the world like him.
Yes, would give a little class to the bar mitzvah bochur about Tefillin. He even had a pair that had gone through a fire that he would show. He would let the B”M know about the mehudar pair of tefillin his father had spent extra to buy.
Baruch Dayan Emes. He had such ne-imus.
BDE!!
BDE, great middos, soft spoken.
BTW, there are two R’ Dovid Bergers in Lakewood who are sofrim, this may end up generating some confusion. The other one is R’ Yisroel Dovid.
This one is a Levi
A terrible loss for the 14 st area and the entire Lakewood & Klal Yisroel.
Besides R’Dovid being a top sofer,( he fixed my Sefer Torah beautifully, & wrote special size mezuzah in 40 min for my wife’s fancy case) he was a big tzadik & a very nice quiet person. He will leave a big void in the Shul & everywhere else.
How old was he?
what A tremendous loss for klall Yisroel.A tov ayin who made you feel comfortable about your decision and your needs . A reputation that was beyond words . a true source of hope and Ehrlichkeit

To all reading, it’s very obvious that those who thumbs-down can mean many different things (and even for thumbs up too). Do they mean something personal about the one the question or comment is being made about or are they trying to say it’s not a good question or comment, and if not, why not. All these things are not clear. People often don’t realize that while they know what they’re trying to say, many others do not. It’s because they don’t have experience with public speaking/writing, and you end up with a mumbo jumbo that has no sense. So, take all thumbs with many grains of salt (or don’t take them!:).
Just to explain a bit more (hey, that’s what I said!), there is technically good reason people make this mistake. It’s because they’re indeed used to having personal conversations with people, who will ask them what they mean when they don’t understand – or can think of two variables, and that’s part of the chess game of life – really a good thing. The problem is it’s much easier in real life, but as we known, with texting it’s even harder (takes more effort and time and you may not ask), and with a blog, even less, and more confusion and more hiding behind made-up names, and then with thumbs, no name or explanation at all..
What are exactly saying?
What a giant. What a loss.
