UPDATE TUESDAY 7:55 AM: Travel ban lifted in New Jersey.
10:00 PM: Hatzolah official tells TLS that members will be staffed at the garages throughout the night.
8:55 PM: BREAKING: Governor Declares Travel Ban for All of NJ Beginning at 11 PM
7:25 PM: Port Authority closing bridges and tunnels at 11 pm. Travel ban in NY starting at 11 pm. Plan accordingly.
5:00 PM: Speed restrictions of 45mph are in effect for the full length of the Garden State Parkway and the NJ Turnpike.
5:00 PM: Â Brunt of storm will be during overnight hours, with 2-4 inches falling per hour at height.
4:10 PM: LPD rolls out SWAT Humvee, other vehicles ahead of blizzard.

10:15 AM: Latest NWS snow predictions for the area remains at 18-24 inches. Heaviest snowfall expected overnight.
9:50 AM: Police Chief Rob Lawson has notified TLS that he is in constant contact with OEM to ensure Lakewood’s emergency workers, and the town’s resident are safe.
9:45 AM: Non-public schools will be closing 90 minutes later than Friday dismissal.
Monday 9:43 AM: Lakewood High School closing at 11:45, Lakewood Middle School closing 12 PM, Grade schools closing 12:30. Public schools closed tomorrow, Tuesday. #Juno.
PLEASE CONSIDER OTHERS AND DONT PARK ON THE STREET TONIGHT AND WAIT UNTIL THE STREETS ARE CLEARED FROM SNOW….
YOUR CAR PARKED CAN CAUSE ISSUES FOR CLEARING SNOW AND MAKING IT A HAZARD FOR ANOTHER WEEK UNTIL THE PACKED SNOW WILL MELT.
ALSO YOUR CAR WILL BE GOING NO WERE FOR ABOUT A WEEK AS IT WILL BURIED IN FROM THE SNOW FALL AND THE COMPACTED SNOW THE PLOW WILL PUSH AGAINST IT.
So if we dont have driveways where do suggest we park?
The first message should be for homeowners who do have driveways, and let the people who live in basements who don’t have driveways park on the street. Instead of hogging the street spots, be considerate!!! Today and always!! leave them for those who don’t have driveways. If you are creative, you can even fit two cars in one driveway, which will help you with less snow shoveling!
Ask a friend or neighbor to park in there driveway over night so that the street can be plowed. It makes it easier for everyone if street gets completely clear and then u will be able to park in ur spot again. U can also help ur neighbor shovel his drive way to get ur car out it’s only menshlich. I think those that don’t try to make some sort of arrangement r very selfish!
park on your front lawn if necessary! some of our roads are very narrow to begin with so one car on the road ruins it for everyone when the plow comes around!
can you update on a 20 minute basis what the roads are like in lakewood

All the neightbors should get together and decide to park only on ONE side of the street leaving more space for the snowplows.

What a flop they got this one wrong
stop reading into the CAPS as being condensending. to all others the houses with basements were supposed to be built with enough space for the basement apartment to park in the driveways.
I would like to know why I received emailes from Achiezer in Far Rockaway, hatzola in Boro Park detailing their areas organizations efforts to coordinate as a group and offering key information from various local organizations in their area as well as phone numbers that may be vital should an urgent matter arise during the storm.
why can’t lakewood be as well organized to communicate
with its residents as other cities. I remember by sandy getting information from Achiezer of far rockaway about suppers that were being available to residents in lakewood. we need a local email emergency list with updates locally.

It’s too late to make driveways big enough for all the cars. Houses with second apts. should have been required to have driveway space for 4 cars because many families have two cars. Developments should have been required to have more street parking spots for guests also. Some towns like Monsey, do not allow street parking all winter long. That wouldn’t work for Lakewood, but, some streets have signs that say no parking during snow removal. That should be required for any street.
I lived in bror park for years and most ppl park on the street & this doesnt stop them from plowing!! So we don’t need to park in the driveway or on ur front lawn especially if u have a second car (which most of us do) we pay enough township tax that they can. Plow the streets and not worry about the parking spaces!!! Its just an excuse not to plow etc……. Think about it – it makes no sence nor diff!

#18 Thank God lakewood is not boro park and stop trying to make it that. if you park on the street then after the storm you dig your car out it will be an unusable parking space with all that snow. if you dont park on the street the plow can plow right up to the curb hence the street is clear for normal parking, and no paying taxes does not entitle you to park where you want and drive like you do. clear enough for you boro parkers?
Well were all sitting waiting for this snow to come. But the NOAA just downgraded this storm to a 3-6 inch snowfall in Lakewood. So lets all get back to our normal lives

The NOAA report of 3-6 inches is for for tomorrow. For tonight they are calling for 10-16 inches.

We are still waiting for the plows. It has been a year and still no plows. Perhaps we could have an asifa to discuss this nezifa.
Fortunately our neighbors are considerate and have kept their cars off the street for months waiting for the plows.
My children refuse to sleep and keep calling the hotline hoping to hear that their yeshiva is open. Perhaps their morah could leave an inspirational message while they decide if they will open.
My neighbors chavrusa is making a snowman.

The township needs to worry about the driving road conditions not the parking spots!!!!! Belive me when I say that even after I dig myself out , that “unparkable” spot will be grabbed up as soon as I pull out! So pls spare us of ur unreasonable S’voros!

NY seems to have gotten a foot. We were close to the south west end of the storm so a shift would mean less impact here. Boston, Connecticut, Long Island got plenty…
my mother’s family moved to Lakewood in 1932 when I was a child in the 1950’s and the early ’60’s after a snow storm the township would close forest ave. at sixth st. going south add additional snow so we could go sledding can’t happen now. memories. we also had an ice skating rink on Madison near first st. built by the Lakewood hotel association.
