[VIDEO MESSAGE FROM MAYOR MILLER] [UPDATED] We regret to inform you of the passing of the Township’s Planning and Engineering Department head, Kevin Kielt.
Kevin, who was always with a smile and known as a real ‘Mentch’, served the Township for over a decade. He suffered from an illness for several years and passed away today. He was in his mid-fifties.
“Kevin will always be remembered for the good he has done in this town”, Mayor Miller said in a video message.
Committeeman Steven Langert says Lakewood lost a good friend.
“I am saddened to learn of the passing of a great Township employee and dear friend”, Langert said. “Kevin Keilt was a man among men. Rest in peace my friend. You will be sorely missed.”
Funeral arrangements will be posted when available.
See video below of Mayor Menashe Miller.
RIP ! A real mentch !!!!!
Rest in Peace Kevin you will be missed.
He was one of the few township employees that do their job the way it’s to supposed to be done!
My condolences to his wife and kids, always with a smile, he will be surely missed !!
Kevin, you were one of the good guys. Always with a smile and ready to help everyone. Lakewood will miss you more then you could imagine.
RIP,
he was a good guy , he always gave you a straight answer. R.I.P.
The Mayor said it very well, all the students were like his children. He gave his 110% for any school that came in for a planning board hearing. He lived for the schools and the not-for-profits. He will be surely missed.
We should have said these kind words to him when he was able to hear them. Their are many Township employees who do the job day in and day out who never hear they did a good job. We take exceptional service for granted sometimes.
It wasn’t just the smile. Behind the smile was a person that was very knowledgeable, thoroughly professional, genuinely helpful, and always fair. Kevin represented the best Lakewood had to offer. RIP. You will be genuinely missed by all who interacted with your office.
It makes me very sad when a nice young gentleman passes away.
May Kevin rest in peace.
One of the nicest people i know. Will always go the extra mile to help ANYBODY. Kevin, rest in peace and pray for all of us. We will never forget you.
Who can imagine not have Kevin around the township with his good manner and kind nature? He will be sorely missed. Condolences to his family and all those he worked with so closely over the years of his service to our town.
Thanks for the laughs Kevin, you will be missed my friend.
WOW
He’s a George Carlin clone!
He went out of his way to to take care of everyone who asked him. A real loss to the Kehilla.
Kevin was a real mentch always there with a smile. Kevin we will miss you dearly. May hashem comfort your family and freinds. RIP
Kevin was a true mentsch he was the most helpful person eager to please. And always went beyond the call of duty. I only have fond memories of this gentle man. May his family know that we all admired him we never saw anything but good in this Giant of a man
I strongly beg to differ with your comment. You are extremely misinformed when you say that “we should have said these kind words to him when he was able to hear them”
We did!!!
Kevin understood the meaning of “mentch” because many people expressed their appreciation for his dedication with the word mentch.
Town Hall has, unfortunately, lost a real good guy. Kevin was kind and good natured. He was true gentleman.
Condolences to Kevin’s family and to all the dedicated employees that worked with him.
So, to you, Mr. or Ms. Resident, I say once again: you are wrong. Very wrong. Kevin was admired by all. AND HE KNEW IT.
RIP.
He was a pleasure to deal with. RIP.
What ?! He was the Head ?! I never even knew. That’s true genius. He was the head of the dept but he treated ppl and spent time w/ them as if he was an interning clerk. Sometimes when I would speak to him I felt as if he was THE only guy in that dept who knew the rules & zoning requirements. RIP Kevin. We miss u already. Dave
Kevin will be missed. He was always ready, willing, and able to lend assistance in a pleasant and helpful way. I never heard one cross word from him. He went the extra mile for everyone. Rest in Peace, my friend.
The wake is tomorrow, Friday May 25th, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Weatherhead-Young funeral home on the corner of Mantaloking and Old Hooper Rd in Brick.
R.I.P. our fellow employee.. You will be missed,, May our prayers give your family the strength to get through this difficult time.
