Lakewood took 150.000 from the poor volunteer firefighters.
And fire budget is a fraction of the Board of Education budget.

But the firefighters have a very large surplus which the BOE doesn’t.

Fire budget was $3,256,000 and was reduced $150,000 by the Township Committee. This is a 4.6% reduction.

BOE budget was $70,630,210 and was reduced $150,000 by the Township Committee. This is a 0.21% reduction.

The Fire budget reduction amount was 22 times as big as the BOE budget reduction amount.

$150,000 budget cut, what a joke!!! Is this what the Town Council calls tax reduction?

The fire budget surplus was eaten up when the fire truck blew the fire pump.

for all the hard working teachers (some of them lakewood residents; some orthodox) how will these cuts affect their salaries? If mr. fink is right that moral has improved what more of a boost than to give them the raise they rightfully deserve?

the best way to insure the teachers get the raise they deserve is to cut busing. Busing takes up 22% of the 70 million budget.
Another way to insure the teachers get the raise is to stagger the hours of the schools.
Don’t blame people if people are not willing to help

We need taxes LOWER!!!

how much lower would you like your taxes? Get real here. If the budget was passed, there wouldn’t be any need for cuts, especially since the cuts are not made across the board to both np and public. The cuts are done for the public. So lets be a responsible community and next time pass the budget so nothing is cut from neither side.

for your information starting times for public schools are staggered. how would this arrangement make a difference?
