UPDATE: Preliminary results are now in for Jackson Fire District 3 and it appears that former Lakewood Fire Commissioner Eliezer Bursztyn will lose his bid for Jackson Commissioner by the 19 votes. The budget was approved.
The Jackson Fire Districts are holding their annual elections tonight and Budget Vote.
Residents will be voting for Commissioners to serve on the Board of Fire Commissioners for their respective districts, residents will also be able to vote on the proposed district budgets.
Jackson is divided into three fire districts, (2, 3 and 4) and each district elects three members to their Board of Fire Commissioners, one for a one-year term, one for a two-year term and one for a three-year term
In Jackson Fire District #3, Lakewood Volunteer Fire Captain and Former Lakewood Fire Commissioner Eliezer Bursztyn is running for Commissioner.
Bursztyn has volunteered for the Lakewood Fire Department since 2016, and was a Lakewood Fire Commissioner for about a year until moving to Jackson Township several years ago.
Bursztyn graduated in 2017, receiving the highest overall score in the class.
The district three polls will be open until 9 PM at 200 Kierych Memorial Drive, Jackson.
District four polls are located at the Jackson Mills Fire Station, 465 North County Line Road, Jackson.
Other towns in Ocean County with fire district elections tonight include Brick, Little Egg Harbor, and Toms River.
New Jersey Fire District Elections are held the 3rd Saturday in February.
