TONIGHT: Yahrtzeit of the Tosfos Yom Tov; Watch Live Event; Song

Thousands of people from Lakewood and around the world are expected to visit the kever of the Tosfos Yom Tov in Krakow, Poland, tonight and Wednesday, marking his 372nd Yahrtzeit.

The Tosfos Yom Tov, Rav Yom Tov Lipman Heller, is remembered as one of the greatest Torah leaders of his generation and is best known for his renowned commentary on Mishnayos, the Tosfos Yom Tov.

He is also famously known for the Mi Shebeirach he composed, which showers many Brachos upon those who refrain from speaking during davening.

A large Seudah event by “Stop The Talking” will be taking place tonight in New York, focusing on the importance of avoiding talking during davening and strengthening the kedushah of the shul. You can watch it live here.

The song below – released by TLS in 2016 – was composed in honor of the Tosfos Yom Tov’s Yahrtzeit. Written and composed by Motty Illowitz; Soloist: Shauly Waldner; Choir: Mezamrim; Arranger: Ruli Ezrahi.

BEAUTIFUL!!
When I was a kid and a bachur I davened with my parents in a chasidische shteibel which 80% of mispalalim were holocaust survivors. In the Bais Medrash the talking sounded like a roaring locomotive, in the ezras noshim it sounded like a chicken coupe, while the rebbe was laining they talked about the horrors of the holocaust they witnessed 23 years ago, they talked about their factory jobs, about upcoming yom tovim etc. but their children just answered and otherwise hardly talked. One of the rebbe’s used give a slight bang and a gentle “nu” or “neee” I should say, if they would stop the talking totally 80% of the mispalelim would leave.
I noticed that today’s generation talk much less in Shul than the previous & HaShem should help them it should go down to no talking at all.
