Toms River Residents Wake up to Invader in their Bedroom

Toms River residents woke up extremely frightened this morning when they encountered a burglar standing in their bedroom, TLS has learned.

At around 6:30 AM this morning, a burglar broke into a Silverton area home while the residents slept, and ransacked the home before making his way upstairs.

He then brazenly walked into the master bedroom, waking up the homeowner as he tried to steal jewelry from the night-table. The homeowner froze, and the burglar ran.

The noise woke up a 9-year-old boy. When the burglar spotted him, he ran down the stairs and out the door, straight to a waiting getaway vehicle.

A short time later, police responded to another unrelated incident, resulting in a high speed chase which was broken off when it hit high speeds of approximately 100 MPH on Route 70. The suspects in the chase were reportedly tracked to the home invasion incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call police immediately.
