Toms River Police Officer Struck by Driver Responding to Family Member’s Accident

A Toms River police officer directing traffic at an accident scene was struck by a vehicle, police say.

“While directing traffic at an accident on Route 9 near Stevens Road, one of our patrol officers was struck by a vehicle driven by a family member responding to the initial accident,” police said.

The officer was transported to Brick Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The accidents remain under investigation at this time.
