The roads is developments or anywhere in town are not playground.
Please don’t allow your kids to play there. If not for your sake at least the drivers.

This was an accident and fluke. But we all have to slow down especially on turns and into parking spaces.

This was not in a development. Also, who said the child was playing in the driveway? According to the story, she was walking with her mother.

To #9 (anon) Do you even know what a development is? The article said 11th St. That is part of a development. First I want to offer my condolences to the family of this little girl. My heart goes out to you and I can not even begin to understand what you are going through. Unfortunately there are sooo many cars parked on the roads that it creates blind spots, which makes it difficult to pull in and out of streets and driveways. We need to figure out a solution to all the traffic problems in the town I’ve lived in for almost 30 years. Rest easy little angel. xo

BD”E.

There is no solution. Just keep on building, keep on polluting the streets with traffic and say extra tehillim before crossing the road.

They will never learn. Never.

To Lucee, how much more supervised could the child be then walking down the street holding her father’s hand, Also as per the driver, the asp bury park press stated that a tree was blocking his view of he child as he pulled into the driveway, so please don’t jump to conclusions.

a small suggestion

I know people will jump down throats and say now is not the time for the suggestion, but I believe it is exactly the right time for a suggestion. When a tragedy happens, we have to examine if, BESIDES for a spiritual fix, there may possibly be a way of trying to prevent it. That is also incumbent upon us.
And a simple solution, which I see can solve SO MANY problems (traffic, safety and quality of life), would be to require more or wider parking spaces for houses. The requirement of four parking spots for new houses is never really fulfilled, and those spots are NEVER are able to accommodate comfortably the four cars. (Who would park in the driveway and try to unload groceries from a big shopping trip when you can’t even open the car door without backing into the car next to you?) The Township MUST begin to account for, and to accommodate for, the larger cars and minivans of today which will not fit into the driveway….even if they say that there are four spots. There are NOT four spots as the developers constantly shrink the size when convenient. The builders say that the consumer does do not want the lWn being taken up by the driveway. But I believe that that is incorrect. For after the buyer moved into the house, they always regret not having more parking space. YES, on those fake blueprints it doesn’t look as pretty, but there is no question that it will free up so much more space on the streets and alleviate traffic and congestion…..in addition to making the house so much more livable, and most of all the safety of the street will improve. The number one reason the town looks so different from many years ago, is not because so many new houses are built. The new houses which are being built where there might have one been a forest is natural result of growth and doesn’t necessarily disturb the other streets. Rather, it’s the fact that when you drive down the street and it is totally lined on both sides with cars; something which never ever was.

I ask everybody buying a house to request from the builders to make sure that you have enough spots….and to demand from the zoning board to stop this lunacy. Yes, build! But, with common sense!
Hkb”h should have rachmanus and give chizuk to everyone suffering from this tragic event.

Lucee!! What lakewood people are you talking about? Are you including yourself? This was a tragedy, but an accident.the girl was supervised, holding her father’s hand.the driver was not on the phone, and just turning into the driveway.it could have happened to anyone.not just a *lakewooder*.
Take your anti see tic blinders off Lucee.

I live in Lakewood. Yesterday I was crossing Tenth St on Clifton Ave when a woman on her cell phone blew through a Stop Sign and sped across Clifton right towards me. She managed to slam on her brakes in time to stop about a foot from me ! There is constant carnage and mayhem on the streets of Lakewood, due to both extraofdinarily poor driving skills and the use of handheld cell phones. Enforcement by the Police is nearly non-existent. I’d rather walk point for a platoon of the Tenth Mountain Division in the Hindu Kush of Afghanistan/Pakistan then cross a street in Lakewood !

Lucee….YOU are a despicable person…and it is YOUR character that has truly shown via your post. To belittle a community when one of their own children was killed in a tragic accident is extremely low….it’s people like you (jealous because you probably have nothing good in your life) who are a disgrace to society….Although I wish it on not even my worst enemy to lose a child. ..I think it might do you a little good…maybe get you off that horse you’re riding on…I feel so sad that you are so bitter….life must be pretty horrible for you…

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. I could never comprehend the anguish the parents must of have had when this happened. I just wish everyone could understand that our cars are deadly weapons when not used responsibly. Those few seconds you use to take your time and be careful could save a life.

I agree with the writer that I see too many people in Lakewood drive while on the phone. It happens elsewhere but it appears more frequent here. Why?
