Today, October 28, is National First Responders Day – a day set aside each year to honor the police officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, 911 dispatchers and others who are the first to answer the call when an emergency strikes.

The observance grew out of a 2019 congressional resolution supporting a national day honoring first responders, and is marked annually – this year with state proclamations across the country and a national celebration in Times Square.

Residents are encouraged to take a moment today to thank a first responder!
