TLS: Our ‘Click-it & Lick It’ Program is Back for its 5th Season! Wear a Helmet – receive an Ice Cream Coupon!

The Lakewood Scoop’s ‘Click-it & Lick It’ program is back for the 5th year! It’s simple – wear a helmet and get a coupon for a free ice cream!

TLS recognized the need for increased awareness and safety in regards to helmet-wearing in Lakewood, so we decided to do something about it. But since summonses can’t be issued, we figured a treat would do the trick.

As a result, the first of its kind ‘Click-it and Lick it’ was born – founded and sponsored by TLS.

sprinklesIn the coming weeks, patrol officers from the Lakewood Police Department will be patrolling with bundles of gift cards like the ones pictured, and if they observe your child with a helmet, he or she will be receiving the card for a free kiddie ice cream at Sprinkles (located in the Gourmet Glatt Plaza on Route 9, and in Todd Plaza). It’s that simple!

In addition to the positive reinforcement aspect of the program, we felt the program will also increase the comfort level of children when approaching police officers to report a crime, suspicious behavior, or G-d forbid if the child is lost.

Cards will ONLY be given out by patrol officers in a MARKED police car. No private citizens whatsoever will be distributing these cards. Children should be told never to approach a stranger’s vehicle – even if he or she claims to be from the Law Enforcement community. If you see someone other than a police officer attempting to give a child the ice cream card, please report it to the LPD & TLS immediately.

  1. I agree its not a bad idea. but parents have to be very careful anyways, Just in case somebody decides to get dressed as a policeman or a policewoman, another think how many ice cream cards can a kid get within one day? if too many then we will have to send the dentist’s bill to the police {of course just joking about that] I do not drive but I wonder whether I would get an ice cream card for crossing only at green light? No dentist bill from me,my dentures do not get cavities, Good night, everybody enough for tonight, Just bei EZRATH HASHEM everybody should stay well and healthy. AMEIN,

  3. Yes my kids are also excited. We even brought them to the store sunday to buy new helmets for all of them. Lets see if the officers will look out for them and stop.
