This Sunday: Lakewood Event for ANCHOR Benefit Filing

Lakewood-area residents are invited to attend a special event on Sunday, August 23rd, where they can learn more about the ANCHOR property tax relief program; and apply for benefits.

The ANCHOR program offers eligible New Jersey homeowners and renters rebates worth several hundred dollars a year. The event will take place on Sunday – between 1:00 and 5:00 pm – at the Westwood office complex; located at 1001 Route 70, near the Lakewood-Toms River border.

This unique event offers participants a treasure trove of information in both English and Yiddish regarding ANCHOR program eligibility, and other pertinent details. In addition, NJ

Department of Treasury representatives will be onsite to answer questions and process applications. These ANCHOR events have been arranged by the C.A.R.E.S. organization since 2024; and co-sponsored by Lakewood Township, as well as several local businesses and organizations. The previous C.A.R.E.S. Lakewood ANCHOR event was the most attended ANCHOR event in the State, other than Newark’s.

“We greatly appreciate that Lakewood residents have the opportunity to learn about the ANCHOR program and apply at a convenient local venue,” says Township Committeeman Meir Lichtenstein. “Thanks to the Treasury Department; C.A.R.E.S; and other event partners, many additional local households will enjoy relief during these financially stressed times.”

“This is a great opportunity for anyone that needs assistance in filling out the ANCHOR application,” says Senator Robert Singer. “I would recommend that my constituents take advantage of this opportunity.”

“We are grateful that the State Legislature has once again provided the necessary funding for the ANCHOR program in this year’s budget,” says Assemblyman Avi Schnall. “This program provides crucial relief to countless families within our District, and throughout the State, who struggle to keep up with the fast-rising cost of living.”
“It is a privilege to assist so many local residents obtain property tax relief,” says Lipa Klein, Director of C.A.R.E.S. “On behalf of the Lakewood community, I would like to thank the Treasury Department for providing live representation at the event – on a weekend – in order to allow for maximum public participation. Special thanks as well to Lakewood Township and the other co-sponsors for making this event possible.”
