We had a great time! Thank you so much!
Why on such a hectic day? Couldn’t it have been scheduled for a better day? We would have loved to go but there was no way we were able to.
This was a great day for whom ever showed up.
Wad told by 1 parent that this was the best chol hamoed trip they had.
Everyone had a great time. Kids and adults alike had fun climbing on a fire truck, flowing water, and even trying on a real set of bunker gear with Scott pack.
Looking foward to next year and other events the LFD is working on for the LAKEWOOD COMMUNITY.
Sora,
Thank you for your interest.
October is Fire Safety Month and traditionally Fire Departments around the country hold their safety events during this month. Obviously between the Holidays and Sunday school, Lakewood is unique and it is difficult to find the right day for this event. We also need to schedule this event at a time when the volunteers are available. Hence, the event is held on the best possible Sunday of the month. As mentioned above, we will be planning events to accommodate the greater community in the future.
Sora,
Like JBW said above. October is fire prevention month. The LFD in the past has always don’t there fire prevention/ open house on the 1st Sunday of the month. This year working with the community they moved it to chol hamoed. Yes we understand it is hashanah raba, we figured that the husbands would take the kids out if the house so you could do what you need to do.
We try to accommodate everyone and we figured this is the best day to do it. Everyone who came out, had a great time.
We are trying to do more of these types of events. So keep a look out for the next one.
Please also remember to call 911 RIGHT AWAY if your smoke, or CO alarms go off. Please do not wait EVERY SECOND COUNTS. CO is a silent killer. You can not see, smell or taste CO. If the alarm goes off there is a reason. CALL 911
If everyone enjoys this day, why then does the town turn away from the fire department at donation time. Soon you will have higher taxes because the volunteers are going away the same as the donations have 2
