By S.T. To witness the sight of over 20 Balei Batim coming together, sitting and Learning every day in Elul from 9-11 in the morning is truly remarkable. Just by entering the Bais Hamedrash one is instantly surrounded by sheer energy and enthusiasm from the kol torah. They all grapple together delving into the Sugya, guided by the Rosh Kollel, Rav Yonasan Blau Shlita.
To think that only a few months ago when a few of Balei Batim sat down to map out the concept of an “Elul Kollel” we would now be witnessing the amazing growth and potential that has taken root, is mind boggling.
Attending The Elul Kollel located in the heart of Lakewood at Kahal Bnei Boruch are many individuals who have taken off from their busy daily schedules, at a loss to their regular business activity, in order to make their Elul more meaningful.
“Come Elul, there is a yearning that many have to be able to re-immerse themselves in the atmosphere of a yeshiva, if only for a few extra hours a day,” says Harav Blau. “That is why we decided to implement this program, with the hope that it will help those looking for a way to make the Hishtadlus to increase their personal growth leading up to the y’mei hadin.”
The goal of The Elul Kollel is to provide those seeking an opportunity to put in extra effort to enhance their Avodas Hashem in preparation for the Yom Hadin an environment to do so together with likeminded people.

Isn’t this just amazing – it must be so hard to grab those two hours in the morning and i am so proud of these men, and their wives who are encouraging them to do this. May we all be zoche to a gut gebentchte yahr and the richtige Geula. Kudos to all of you, what you are doing is just incredible ! If you could just see the happiness in Shamayim by this effort !
It is a beautiful thing. These masmidim are inspiring There are also opportunities for this type of learning for working bnei torah year-round at several venues. One example is R’ Mordy Schron’s morning kollel at BMG Alumni B”M.
Clearly these baley batim are not actually employed.
They must be bussines owners.
I would lose my job if I took off from 9-11 for a month.
#3 Hkb”h only wants you to give what you can. If you can find one or two hours at night or early morning etc. to learn that will be just as choshuv to him!
Excuse Mr. G. – I work by the hour and just for this month my boss allowed it. But of course the business is not sponsering.
A great zechus! It shows a kesher to torah. Rav Lazer Apter’s shiur in the morning and daf yomi at night are popular, At Zihron Binyamin shul.
