TEHILLIM: A Lakewood infant is in serious condition this evening after choking on a small toy. Hatzolah was called about 4:30 PM this afternoon for the report of a baby choking, and upon arrival found the child unconscious and not breathing.
Multiple Hatzolah BLS and ALS units immediately began performing life-saving measures on the 5-month old baby, and managed to clear his airway enough to rush him to the hospital.
The baby was taken to Kimball Medical Center, where they managed after about 45 minutes to remove the item, sources tell TLS.
“It is imperative that parents and siblings keep any foreign objects – including food- away from infants and young children, as they tend to grab items and immediately place them in their mouths,” a veteran Hatzolah Paramedic said.
The baby is now being transported to CHOP via helicopter in critical but stable condition.

8. If you read the article you’ll see Hatzolah had to work on the child for a long time, a good old cpr course wouldn’t have helped much. I’m all for cpr courses for everyone but your not giong to make everyone an emt.
