[VIDEO & PHOTOS – Updated 11:00] The area around Police Headquarters is closed off after a suspicious package was found in front of the Municipal building. The package, which appears to be a suitcase and suit bag, were left sitting about 15 feet from the stairs.
LFD, OEM and EMS are on the scene as they await for the arrival of K-9 units.
“With the death of Bin Laden, we’re just not taking any chances”, an official at the scene said.
Court sessions were delayed due to no access to the building.
UPDATE: The scene has been cleared by the K-9 units. The package turned out to be clothing. TLS

I’m glad that this was just clothes and nothing else, but my question is how does one forget their suitcase and suit bag, did’nt they realize that something was missing?

I think in cases like these the person who left their stuff out should be sent a bill for the cost of bringing the state police bomb squad and their dog out to Lakewood. I bet the town would be a lot less cluttered!

It was not the state police, rather it was the Ocean County Sheriff’s office.

Sometimes luggage and dry cleaning is just luggage dry cleaning, if I went through my life thinking every forgotten/lost bag was a bomb I could not do my job let alone leave the house. We need to stop overreacting and living in fear.
