Never build away from the home ur giving full exposure to the wind also beams that hold schach should BE DRILLED INTO THE HOME FOR STABILITY GUT YT!
I always wonder why the panel sukkahs don’t have little holes in the back to tie/zip them to a deck railing. Does anyone have a good solution?
Yea, drill your own, it’s not very hard.

A succah only has to be able to withstand a ruach metzuya (common wind), and these winds were certainly stronger than usual. So the fact that it fell does not necessarily mean it wasn’t kosher.
But practically, since we do sometimes get winds like this, it’s obviously a good idea to secure it better — especially a light succah on a porch/deck. It should probably be attached to something solid and stationary.
Looking at the pictures, I wonder if this type is really meant to be freestanding like that. Maybe it needs to be anchored to the house/railing, or have additional beams along the top or sides so it can’t move. You have to check the instructions.
It’s not. It’s meant for a porch with railings close by to support it
